The landscape of the Cinque Terre is definitely unique and kidnaps for natural beauty and the perfect integration of man in a very difficult environment. A stretch of the Ligurian coast, where generations have worked to create this monumental architecture are the terraces overlooking the sea, the rocks torn strips of land for the production of a soprafino oil and a refined wine.
The Cinque Terre are now National Park and Marine Protected Area with the aim of protecting this great cultural heritage. The best way to discover, try and understand and enjoy "the Cinque Terre is without doubt to walk. Along the paths and stairways centenary that until recently were the only routes between the five villages, among the broom, cysts, white and pink, the agaves that dot the landscape and the strong scent of spice everlasting.
The path connecting Riomaggiore in Monterosso and 'the most famous and spectacular and is' known as the "blue trail". To go through the trail takes about five hours total and will exceed a height of 500 meters.
An alternative and certainly much less effort, and the special train that links La Spezia with all stations in the center of each of the five boroughs. Corniglia, a small town for agricultural use is located on a rocky promontory overlooking the sea, on the edge of a terraced vineyards, more connected to the land and the sea.
The long stony beach you can reach a wide staircase going up the country overview and natural terrace that hosts. A charming path between the Mediterranean and crops abandoned in part, reaches the highest point on the route leading to Vernazza.
Vernazza, once protected by the Genoese by a majestic ramparts and city walls, winds along a narrow canyon carved by the river of the same name until you reach the small square on the seashore. The presence of precious architectural elements such as balconies and patios, where they are now hospitalized boats during storms, shows that the level of life that was economically and socially superior to that of other centers of Cinque Terre. Remarkable fourteenth-century church of St. Margaret of Antioch with the octagonal bell tower. Reached on foot along a stretch of trail is more challenging Monterosso Sea.
Monterosso al Mare is the largest and most relaxed of Cinque Terre with a long beach bordered by high cliffs at the ends. The village is divided into two parts by the medieval tower Aurora. The old part is the most characteristic and completely different is the new part, which has made tourism its wealth. From here you can admire the statue of the Giant, 14 m high, depicting the god Neptune and built on a rocky outcrop.
