Giacomo Puccini, the Maestro Puccini was born in Lucca in 1859. The city of Lucca, the capital until 1400 the small state which gave its name, has always attached particular importance to the music, creating a musical culture that led to the founding of ' Boccherini Music Institute in 1842, then baptized Pacini, and giving birth to countless composers and musicians like few other cities in Italy. Giacomo Puccini studied at the same institute and was the first awards.

In 1930 Pietro Mascagni conducted La Boheme on the banks of the lake, in the theater of the fifteenth century, after the Master Puccini, shortly before his death, he confided to his friend Joachim Forzano wish he would have had to hear when the wind of its lake carry the music he had composed there.
